Rebaudioside A (Reb A) is the sweetest and least bitter extract from the stevia leaf. It is the second most abundant glycoside in the stevia plant and is most suitable as a sweetener due to its solubility in water and excellent taste profile. Moreover, Reb A is more than 200 times sweeter than sugar and is non-nutritive.

Reb A is removed from the stevia leaf through an extraction and purification process. The leaf of the plant is first treated with water to obtain glycosides including Reb A in a process similar to brewing tea. The mixture is purified to remove non Reb A substances. The water is then removed and the Reb A is crystallized yielding a highly purified (>97% Reb A) natural sweetener with the best possible taste profile.

The purified Reb A extract is then blended with isomaltulose (a natural sweetening agent also found in honey and sugar cane), erythritol, cellulose powder (which acts as a bulking agent) and natural flavors to give PureVia™ a clean sweet taste with the granular texture of sugar.
