Pure Via™ is a new all natural, zero calorie sweetener derived from stevia rebaudiana bertoni, commonly known as stevia, a plant native to Paraguay, South America.
Pure Via™ was created by the Whole Earth Sweetener Company to meet an increasing need for all natural, zero calorie sweeteners and sweetened foods.
The primary sweetener in Pure Via™ is Rebaudioside A, commonly also referred to as Reb A, which is the sweetest part of the stevia leaf. A process much like that of making tea is used to extract the Reb A from the leaf. It is first steeped in fresh water, then filtered and purified before it is crystallized into a very high purity Reb A. This process brings out the sweetness and helps eliminate the bitter components commonly associated with stevia. The purified Reb A extract is then blended with other natural sweeteners, erythritol and isomaltulose, along with natural flavors and cellulose powder (which serves as a bulking agent) to give Pure Via™ a rounded, sweet taste with the granular texture of sugar.
The end result is a natural sweetener that is an ideal way to enjoy the ultimate sweet experience without all the calories.
